Abstract

Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a critical component of IT security, especially in complex IT environments characterized by diverse systems, applications, and user roles. This paper explores the principles, challenges, and advanced techniques associated with IAM in such environments. It examines how IAM frameworks help organizations manage user identities, control access, and ensure compliance across various IT systems. The paper highlights key IAM components, including authentication, authorization, and audit capabilities, and discusses their integration with modern technologies like cloud computing, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and identity federation. Through case studies and practical examples, the research demonstrates how effective IAM practices can mitigate security risks, enhance operational efficiency, and support regulatory compliance. The paper also addresses common challenges and provides best practices for implementing and managing IAM systems in complex IT landscapes.
